The Forest Sessions 2024
In the Fictional Universes of Comic Art, Animation and Literature, using a Forest as an Environment often brings with it a veritable Treasure Cove of Creative Possibilities.
ToonSchool's 2024 Syllabus therefore featured The Forest Sessions, a Series of four Drawing Classes that explored the use of a Forest as an Environment in an Artwork. During these Sessions we addressed the different Layers of the average Forest, starting with the Forest Floor and Drawing our way up through the Herbaceous, Scrub, Understory, Vertical and Canopy Layers. We payed specific attention to the Variation in Vegetation and Ecosystems that would make an Artwork more credible.
The Sessions were also the perfect Platform to address the Drawing of Trees thoroughly and systematically. We covered the Drawing of the Roots, Trunk, Branches and Bark of a Tree as well as Creating Variation when depicting Tree Crests.
The ToonSchoolers were equal to the task and produced exceptional work.
