Greetings ToonSchoolers and those who support them enthusiastically.
I trust that all is well in every Studio, at every Work Desk and in every Living Room Corner designated for the pursuit of Creativity.
The First Term kicked off on a very exciting note with Operation: Character Design Sheets, the first ToonSchool Drawing Project to run over nearly the entire course of the year.
The Project addresses the Character Design Process used in the Animation, Film and Gaming Industries. The last Session of each Month is dedicated to one of the Aspects that usually forms part of a Character Design Sheet, i.e. Turnaround Sheets, Expressions Sheets, the Character in Motion, Costume Design, etc.
The ToonSchoolers are really stepping up to the plate with this one. I am amazed at their dedication to the Project, the Process, and their Characters.

The First Term also saw the start of the Ocean Sessions, a series of four Sessions that explore the use of the Ocean as an Environment in an Artwork. Starting with the Sunlight Zone, the Sessions address each Ocean Zone Individually, paying attention to the Landscape Elements, Vegetation and Inhabitants that can be utilized in an Underwater Composition.
The remaining Sessions include the Twilight Zone on 15 & 17 May; the Midnight Zone on 14 & 16 August; and the Abyss & Trenches on 16 & 18 October, poetically placed right in the middle of Inktober, when we usually focus on the Art of Inking.

The Gallery still hosts images of last year’s Forest Sessions which approached the Subject Matter in the same Layered way and proved to be very successful, judging by the Pudding.

On the Drawing Board | Term 2 The 2nd Illustrative Term is looking very exciting with -amongst others- a Mega-Session on How to Draw Wings, a Session on Perspective Drawing, the Annual Painting Parody, and the first of our Bi-annual Sessions on Colour Theory.
The How-To-Draws vary from Feet to Food to Fantasy and everything in between.

ToonSchool Break
As April is a five-week Month, there will be a one-week ToonSchool Break in the last week of April / first week of May.There will be no ToonSchool Sessions on 1 & 3 May 2025. Sessions for May will resume on 8 & 10 May.
