Greetings ToonSchoolers and those who support them enthusiastically.
I trust all is well in every Kingdom and in every Fandom.
Content for the week’s Sessions includes:
A: Drawing Project | Environments | Forests 4.0
This week sees the Fourth and Final of our Forest Sessions, a Series of Drawing Lessons that explored the use of Forests as a Background in an Artwork.
[And, boy, did the ToonSchoolers impress!]
Working our way up, we covered the Forest Floor and the Herbaceous, Scrub, Understory and Vertical Layers, paying specific attention to the Variation in Vegetation and Ecosystems that would make an Artwork more credible.
We finish the Forested Festivities with the Canopy Layer and how it can be utilized in a Composition.
P/Point Presentation includes:
• Intro & Background.
• The Anatomy of Trees.
• Layout & Composition.
• Landscape Perspective.
• Ecosystem.
• The Drawing Project with Multiple Options and Interpretations.
• The Gallery of Artists that serves as Reference and Inspiration. It features Artworks from around the Web showing how other Artists approached the same Subject Matter. All Visual References can be viewed on ToonSchool’s Pinterest Profile, @toonschoolsa.
B: Cartoon Theory | No Theory. It's all about the Trees again.
C: How To Draw | Trees.
After the Presentation, we dive straight into the How to Draw Segment. The Forest Sessions were the perfect Platform to address the Drawing of Trees thoroughly and systematically. During the Sessions, we’ve covered the Drawing of the Roots, Trunk, Branches and Bark of a Tree.
We now address the Tree as a whole focusing on Creating Variation when depicting Tree Crests.
D: Art Quote of the Day
We are still Pearling for Wisdom in one of Julia Cameron’s Publications, Letters to a Young Artist. Cameron is the Author of The Artist’s Way, a Book I can highly recommend to any Creative Individual on any part of their Creative Journey.
E: Show & Tell
The Quote of the Day concludes the Session. Those who wish can hang around for an Optional Show & Tell where ToonSchoolers get to share the Artwork they’ve Produced in Class or during the week. ToonSchoolers are free to leave after presenting their own Show & Tell.
I look forward to seeing everyone and their Talent again.
May the Creative Force be with you!
V.
