I trust that all is well and that your individual Journeys over the long weekend took you safely There and Back Again.
Roster Changes
For me and my Family the Easter Weekend, unfortunately, brought its share of grief as my Mom passed away, a mere eight months after my Dad’s passing in July 2023. Even though I couldn’t be happier for her and them in their new destination, the untimely departure did leave those of us who stayed behind with things that now need to be taken care of.
The 2nd ToonSchool Term will therefore start one week later than scheduled on 11 & 13 April 2024. There will be NO ToonSchool Sessions this week on 04 & 06 April 2024.
These Changes in Dates do not affect the ToonSchool Sessions and Syllabus in any way, as the Leap Day gifted us with an extra 5-week-month this Year which was flexible enough to be utilized in case of emergencies just like this.

The longer ToonSchool break does not mean there should be no Drawing. On the contrary, I expect to see more work than usual at next week’s Show & Tell. V.

On the 2nd Term Drawing Board
The Second Term Syllabus is looking very exciting indeed!
Subject Matter for the 12 Sessions includes the first of two Colour Theory Segments for the Year; some Human Anatomy to get things in Proportion; a bit of Bodies in Motion for some Movement; a wide range of How-to-Draws, including Clothing, Nature and Transport; and the usual dollop of Perspective Drawing because it’s got to be done despite the audible Groans.
There are also a handful of Themed Projects -which I’m keeping under my proverbial hat for now- that will challenge both Skill and Imagination. The Imagination-bit excites me tremendously, as I cannot wait to see where the ToonSchoolers will take the Projects.
This Term also starts a Four-part Segment on the Forest Environment. These Four Sessions are spread over the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Terms and will essentially address How to Draw Trees and the Vegetation surrounding them to Create Backgrounds. I know many of the ToonSchoolers are also looking forward to this as much as I am as Trees and Forests often tend to pop up in the Worlds where our Characters dwell.
The Four Forest Sessions will take place on 25 & 27 April; 20 & 22 June; 15 & 17 August; and 24 & 26 October 2024.

The ToonSchoolers’ Gallery
As you may have noticed, this Newsletter does not include the usual ToonSchooler’s Gallery, as Wix’s Blog Platform only allows for one Image per Article. The Gallery has therefore been moved elsewhere on the ToonSchool Website where it is currently Under Construction.
The New ToonSchooler’s Gallery will Showcase one Artwork from each attending ToonSchooler as well as Links to their Online Portfolio or the Social Media Platform where their work can be viewed.
Those interested in having their Work featured in the Gallery must please supply me with the following:
A: A Photograph of your strongest Artwork, the one you wish to brag with.
• Only Artworks that were inspired by ToonSchool Project Briefs will be accepted.
• The Photograph should be Clear and Well-lit, avoiding sinister Phone Shadows.
B: The Links to your Online Portfolio Platforms.
More on the ToonSchoolers’ Gallery as Time allows for Events to warrant.
